Education

One of the most important aspects of technology in education is its ability to level the field of opportunity for students.”
— John King, Former U.S. Secretary of Education

EBS as a tool to close the homework gap.

Broadband provides students, parents, administrators, and educators with a platform that offers unlimited resources for teaching and learning. However, students without access to the internet outside of school often struggle to keep up with their assignments and their connected peers, a problem called “the homework gap.” NACEPF funds Mobile Beacon's Connect for Success grant program and Digital Wish device donation program to help schools close the homework gap.

EBS as a platform for lifelong learning.

Learning isn’t limited to schools or in a traditional classroom setting. NACEPF created Mobile Beacon with the vision to serve traditional K-12 educational entities and community anchor institutions that provide vital services to help people become self-sufficient, gain new skills, and fully participate in society.

EBS as an educational programming resource.

NACEPF developed 20 full semester distance learning programs for public, private, and parochial schools through its College and School Network (CSN), an accredited member of the Accrediting Commission International. These courses are available free of charge and are intended to supplement and enrich a school’s curriculum. View our course catalog.

Through leasing its EBS spectrum, NACEPF is able to fund ongoing donations made through its subsidiary, Mobile Beacon, in support of these programs:
  • Connect for Success Grants. Valued at up to $25,000, these grants provide up to 25 laptops and 4G LTE mobile hotspots with free, unlimited internet service for one-year. These grants are awarded quarterly and available for schools in all of NACEPF’s EBS-licensed markets.
  • Digital Wish Device Donation Program. This program has donated more than 2425 free 4G devices to K-12 schools, colleges, and universities throughout the United States.
